THE NEW TUBEROSE Riding the waves of the sea, challenging sea monsters, the tuberose cried in the rain and dried in the sun. She embraced a block of ambergris and danced with red seaweed absolutes. She defended her right to her roots with all her strength, clinging to a coral. Its petals, soaked in salt water, are impregnated with purple, obtained from the secretion of a mollusk, one of the few ancient dyes that does not lose its intensity over time, but which becomes brighter with exposure to sunlight. An indelible pigment, like the intensity of an Extrait de Parfum.
With Murice Imperiale I tried to give a perfume to the colour, called Tire red, through notes of rhubarb. There is a tuberose plantation in the sea. The mermaid made its cultivation possible, collecting, from the foamy shoreline of the sea, the murex and the precious flower it contains… The tuberose is a white flower that has come from afar, carried by the waves inside a shell: its home, the casket in which it lies down, it’s cool refuge. Don’t call it navy. It is an underwater, humid, mineral tuberose.
